  • Seeking a high-impact Lead UX/UI Systems Designer to join a fast-paced agile team supporting critical rail operations across the Northeast Corridor (DC/MD/DE/PA/NY). This role bridges design strategy and technical implementation, delivering intuitive custom applications that support operational efficiency.
  • The position includes field research responsibilities, requiring travel along the corridor to conduct workshops and usability testing with operations staff, including on-site and in-transit environments. The role also focuses on scaling design systems, managing workflows, and advocating for user-centered design across cross-functional teams.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Design Systems: Create, maintain, and scale design systems and component libraries to ensure consistency across products
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Product Owners, Researchers, and Engineers; manage workflows within Jira
  • UI/UX Design: Develop high-fidelity UI designs and prototypes aligned with technical and accessibility standards
  • User Research: Conduct usability testing and field research; translate insights into actionable improvements
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present and defend design decisions; promote user-centered design practices
  • Agile Participation: Engage in agile ceremonies including standups and planning sessions

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 6+ years of UX/UI design experience, including enterprise applications and design systems
  • Strong proficiency in Figma, FigJam, Jira, and Confluence
  • Solid understanding of front-end UI best practices and implementation
  • Must be located in the Northeast Corridor (DC, Wilmington, Philadelphia, or NYC)
  • Willingness to travel (~25%) for research and workshops
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Experience working in agile environments

  • Portfolio demonstrating user-centered design, high-fidelity UI, and scalable systems

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in rail, logistics, or large-scale enterprise internal tools
