  • The Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU Stepdown unit provides comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and advanced clinical support. The role involves managing complex patient conditions, performing specialized procedures, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to stepdown and high-acuity patients
  • Monitor patient conditions, interpret clinical data, and respond promptly to changes
  • Perform IV insertion, phlebotomy, and medication administration
  • Administer and monitor conscious sedation as required
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
  • Demonstrate competency in age-specific patient care

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical Stepdown experience or 2 years of ICU experience
  • Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
  • Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
  • Completion of age-specific competency

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited program
  • Graduate of an accredited National League of Nursing (NLN) school
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
