  • The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pediatric ICU provides specialized, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill infants and children. The role involves continuous patient monitoring, advanced clinical interventions, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct care to critically ill pediatric patients in the ICU
  • Monitor vital signs, interpret clinical data, and respond to rapid changes in condition
  • Perform IV insertion, phlebotomy, and administer medications as prescribed
  • Provide and monitor conscious sedation when required
  • Develop and implement individualized, age-appropriate care plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and care teams
  • Educate families on patient condition, treatment plans, and post-care needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to safety and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Maternal and Child experience
  • Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
  • Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program
