System Analyst 6

Job Description

• The State of Michigan is seeking an experienced System Analyst to lead the implementation and support of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for the Bureau of Laboratories. This role will focus on requirements analysis, process improvement, system integration, and supporting laboratory applications that are critical to public health reporting and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and document business and functional requirements (BRD, FRD, User Stories) from laboratory stakeholders
• Translate laboratory workflows into system requirements and conduct gap analysis
• Support implementation, configuration, and enhancement of LIMS platforms
• Collaborate with vendors and IT teams on system upgrades, integrations, and issue resolution
• Analyze sample lifecycle workflows (login, testing, reporting) to identify inefficiencies
• Develop and maintain SOPs, system documentation, and training materials
• Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Support data migration, system implementation, and application integrations
• Work with APIs, HL7, ETL processes, and SQL databases for system integration
• Create process maps (BPMN / Flowcharts) and support reporting using Power BI or Tableau

Required Skills

• 8+ years of Business/System Analysis experience
• Experience with LIMS platforms (Clinisys, STARLIMS, LabWare)
• Strong experience with requirements gathering and documentation (BRD, FRD, User Stories)
• Experience with Process Mapping (BPMN / Flowcharts) and Gap Analysis
• Experience in Agile and/or Waterfall environments
• Experience with Azure DevOps
• Knowledge of SQL, APIs, HL7, and ETL integrations

Preferred Skills

• Experience with data migration and enterprise system implementations
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau reporting tools
• Understanding of laboratory workflows, instrument integration, and quality control processes
