RN - Med Surg

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in an acute care setting. This role focuses on delivering safe, patient-centered care, managing multiple patient assignments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to medical-surgical patients with varying acuity
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses
• Perform clinical procedures including IV therapy and wound care
• Monitor vital signs and promptly report changes in patient condition
• Utilize telemetry monitoring as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC EMR
• Collaborate with physicians and care teams on treatment and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on care plans and recovery processes
• Adhere to infection control standards and hospital protocols

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – State of New York

• Acute care hospital setting
• Average unit census: 30 patients
• 34-bed unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: approximately 1:5
• 3x12 schedule with weekend and holiday rotation required
