Job Summary
- The Registered Nurse (RN) – Wound Care specializes in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with acute and chronic wounds. This role requires expertise in wound and ostomy care, along with strong clinical judgment to support optimal healing outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, and implement care for patients with complex wounds, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and ulcers.
- Provide specialized wound and ostomy (colostomy) care and management.
- Monitor wound healing progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques and prevention strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of wound assessments, treatments, and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) experience.
- Hands-on experience in wound care and colostomy/ostomy management.
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certifications
- BLS – AHA.
- BLS (CPR)
One of the following wound care certifications (required)
- Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) – WOCNCB
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) – WOCNCB
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) – WOCNCB
- Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) – ABWM
- Wound Care Certified (WCC) – NAWCO
- License
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through NYSED.
